Praise from all walks of life
The clear, flowing prose of a gurgling stream paints a story of a fictitious elementary school where animals and humans coexist with each other, with such unrestrained imagination and heartwarming warmth. Without the baptism of nature and a clear, compassionate heart, it would be difficult to create such a moving and beautiful story. -- Renowned children's literature author Gui Wenya. In this world of universal harmony, thanks to children's selflessness, selflessness, and impartiality, believing in the equality of all things, you, me, and a bear are classmates in a forest elementary school. The author uses magical realism and poetic language to depict the difficulties of mountain transportation, population migration, child school dropouts, and devastating landslides, and the helplessness of children forced to transfer to lower-lying schools. Vivid illustrations imbue the story with a magical touch, allowing us, as adults, to reminisce about the difficult yet blessed years of our childhood. -- Xu Jiankun, Chairman of the Children's Literature Society of the Republic of China. This story is so innocent that reading it feels like living in the mountains, surrounded by clouds and mist. My soul is cleansed and a refreshing feeling permeates my heart. We feel like characters in the story, sharing the tension, the sadness, and as we continue along, our perspective on the world changes. This is a wonderful story, filled with mountain legends, poetic and picturesque, and absolutely beautiful! --Educator Li Chongjian. I originally thought it was an imaginative fairy tale, but after reading it, I realized it's a story that teaches children to live in harmony with nature and a touching story about parting. After reading it, it's a heartwarming experience, and I sincerely recommend it to every child. --Su Mingjin (Old Teacher), Dayuan Elementary School Teacher in Taichung City
The Formosan black bear is a representative animal of Taiwan's mountain forest ecosystem. However, due to various human development activities and disturbances, its habitat is gradually disappearing and its population is declining. The plight of these animals not only reminds us of our original close connection with nature, but also makes us reflect on what kind of human we want to be. If we can better understand them and respect life, the symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature will be healthier and more harmonious. — Professor Huang Meixiu of the Wildlife Conservation Research Institute at Pingtung University of Science and Technology. Professor Youyu's writing has this magical power. Without preaching or generalizations, it tells captivating stories that let the imagination soar, grounding them in the joys and sorrows of the real world, conveying thought-provoking meanings. It is definitely a book worth reading again and again. — Zeng Pinfang, a reading promoter of the Ministry of Education. This book is suitable for children and adults alike. It is a long poem, a film in words, and a story that is both joyful and sad. The ending of a novel always requires readers to take time to savor it, to gain their own unique experience and feelings. This beautiful gift package awaits you! — Elementary school teacher. Reading promoter Lin Yichen: I love Teacher Youyu's children's books. From "Goodbye, Olive Tree" to "Bad Schoolmate," and now "My Classmate is a Bear," her works always have a subtle poetic quality, imbued with the fragrance of trees and books. The scent of the countryside and small towns is like the sunshine and breeze of early autumn, fresh and bright yet comfortable. --Family columnist Chen Anyi: Good novels can inspire imagination, filling our world with new perspectives and understandings! Teacher Zhang Youyu's new work, "My Classmate is a Bear," takes us into a warm and imaginative elementary school! --Xing Xiaoping, Principal of Yong'an Elementary School in Taipei: The city may be filled with sad stories, but as long as the mountains remain, we can set aside worldly judgments, turn our heads to face our own mountains, and strive forward with courage, wisdom, and true love, striving and steadfastly! Before you set off, don't forget to read "My Classmate is a Bear" again! --Liu Zhaoyi, Director of Buffalo Bookstore and I Love You Xuetian

As an illustrator, my favorite medium is picture books.
When I paint, I like to incorporate a little bit of everything, experimenting with the possibilities of my medium. My favorite places are cats' bellies and dogs' noses. The plight of animals, their attitudes toward life, and the meaning of life are things I think about daily. I occasionally hold solo and group exhibitions, hoping to continue creating works that are warm, powerful, and reflective of life. Recent works include the "Possible Elementary School's Western Civilization Mission" series, and picture books such as the graphic novels "Secret Bunny," "Monster Mom," "What to Do Without a Rooster," and "Hitchhiking."
