Wild Mango: A Selection of Contemporary Malaysian Chinese Fiction 2013-2016

A selection of contemporary Malaysian Chinese novels, which has been "operated overseas", is published in Malaysia for the first time.

Following "A World Across the Water: A Selection of Contemporary Malaysian Chinese Novels (1986-1996)", "Don't Mention It Again: A Selection of Contemporary Malaysian Chinese Novels (1997-2003)", and "The Story Always Begins: A Selection of Contemporary Malaysian Chinese Novels (2004-2012)", the selection period of "Wild Mango: A Selection of Contemporary Malaysian Chinese Novels (2013-2016)" falls between 2013 and 2016. The significance of inheritance is self-evident.

The book contains a total of 19 novels, including those written by young authors in their 80s and 90s, as well as veteran writers who have been writing for a long time. The selected works reflect the meaning of youth and maturity.

About twenty years after the first anthology of contemporary Malaysian Chinese fiction was published in Taiwan, the story of "A World Across the Water" returned to the soil of the equator, and this "wild mango" grew. - Lin Chunmei

Lin Chunmei

He holds a PhD in Chinese Language and Literature from the National University of Singapore. He is currently an Associate Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has written the essay collections "Letters to the Ancients" and "Past and Beyond," and the essay collection "Gender and Locality: Local Discussions on Malaysian Chinese Literature." He has also edited books such as "Love 11," "Prose Class on Mondays and Thursdays," "Youth Remains," "Spicy Malaysian Chinese Literature: A Selection of Controversial Topics in Malaysian Chinese Literature from the 1990s," "My Literary Journey," and "Drifting with the Island: A Selection of Contemporary Malaysian Chinese Prose (2000-2012)."

Gao Jiaqian

He holds a PhD in Chinese literature from National Chengchi University in Taiwan and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at National Taiwan University. He has also been a guest lecturer at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. His research focuses on modern and contemporary Chinese literature, Chinese poetry, classical Republican poetry, and Malaysian Chinese literature. His research has been recognized with the Wu Dayou Memorial Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology and a grant for a book in the humanities and social sciences from the Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, Ministry of Science and Technology. He is the author of Survivors, Boundaries, and Modernity: The Southern Diaspora and Lyricism in Chinese Poetry (1895-1945) (Taipei: Lianjing Publishing Company, 2016) and Metaphors of Nation and History: A Spiritual History of Modern and Contemporary Martial Arts Legends (1895-1949) (Taipei: Hua Mulan Publishing House, 2014).
