=2022 Aesop Queer Literature Library Hong Kong Selections=
It seems that no words can truly describe the contradictions and complexities between us. We are always sweet and distant. It is not one-sided good or one-sided bad. Sometimes it feels like a lifetime, and sometimes it is like a mirage.

When you are hopelessly obsessed, unable to explain or change it, all you can do is continue to be obsessed.

"Rongrong" chronicles a relationship that blossomed but never bore fruit, and how it becomes an obsession. The story is filled with tender affection, depicting the daily life of lesbian love and desire. Spanning London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Taipei, the work, in a blend of Chinese, English, French, and Cantonese, charts the uninhibited growth of Rongrong, a French-Chinese-Vietnamese lesbian, and reveals the unique facets of diaspora.

Lu Yu

Born in Hong Kong, Lu Yinyu pursued a master's degree in gender studies at University College London after graduating from university. Her first work, Rongrong, was published in 2019 on Clean Press, Hong Kong.

Since moving to London, she has been writing novels that touch upon queerness, sexuality, and desire. Her second novel, Grafting, explores the lives and relationships of an Asian lesbian living abroad, exploring themes such as diaspora trauma, in-between identities, belonging, non-relationships, and loneliness. It will be published following the Taiwanese edition of Rongrong.
