★The most tropical rainforest-style landscape and people★
☆The most mysterious and thrilling fish-beast fight scene☆

An old fisherman accidentally catches a living fossil, and everyone celebrates, but it foreshadows a serious disaster! ──《Sea Tremble》
A Tamsui tiger bared its teeth, its ferocity surpassing even that of a crocodile in its predatory behavior against wild monkeys!
Searching for gold for an ancestor buried for ages, they opened the coffin and discovered twelve immortal bodies?! ──〈Water Charm〉

"The God of the Imperial River": Betta fish fight for their lives in a glass bottle. How do you select the most capable male fish in the tranquil waters of a leisurely river? Raising a warrior fish requires more than just feeding it wild red earthworms; how much brutal training is required? How does a new species, sporting the most ornate fins and scales at a fish exhibition, achieve its status under the most demanding standards? This article won the Malaysia Huazong Literary Award, solidifying Xu Yuquan's literary reputation.

In "River Killing", we see the angler dealing with cunning fish, and in "Mountain God", the hunter Zheng Jiu is full of vigor and energy as he hunts wild boars, like the sound of a loaded gun, awakening the most primitive conscience of human nature; in "Sea Hunting", the fisherman catches a full load of sweet fish in the sea breeze, but "summons his soul" in another wave of sad waves; in "Female Pig", the farmer tries every means to breed piglets, and "The Ruins" is the lingering nightmare of the pig farmer... The scenes in each chapter are vivid and full of gorgeous colors.

Xu Yuquan's narrative is richly charged with emotion, occasionally humorous, and powerfully written. His passion stems from a deep love and reverence for the mountains, forests, rivers, and seas, drawing inspiration from his own experiences in agriculture, fishing, and animal husbandry, as well as the life journeys of his friends. Amidst the shifting constellations and the ebb and flow of the tides, his penetrating and sincere brushstrokes delicately depict majestic mountain beasts, bizarre sea monsters, and oceanic landscapes, creating a scene that feels like an exquisite film storyboard, breathtakingly captivating.

"Mountain Gods and Water Charms" sold out immediately after its publication in Malaysia. The Taiwan edition features the author's calligraphy on the cover and exclusively includes "Ruins" and "Daughter Fish." This book takes readers on a journey through a magnificent landscape of words, offering a glimpse into the mysterious fish and beasts of the rainforest and a glimpse into the truest human nature.
