From contributing to newspapers and periodicals, publishing his works to winning literary awards, he has made great strides and has become one of the most successful writers of his generation in the Malaysian Chinese literary world.
In 2018, he crossed over from writing to publishing and founded the literary magazine "SEAL", which once again won him applause and support, making him more popular and the magazine a hot seller.
Society has always had a special image of the "slash youth," and he fits this collective expectation. Not only does he create works with a wide range of themes and diverse styles, but he also possesses multiple personal identities: writer, journalist, magazine editor, choir singer, and more.
While giving people the impression of "complexity/mixture", what we are concerned about is: how does he combine all the complex elements and consistently present "Butter Boy" to the public?

As of June this year, Niu You Xiaosheng has published three collections of essays and one collection of novels. This continuous stream of work demonstrates his literary ambitions and self-importance. In an interview with the editorial team of Monsoon Belt, he revealed the influence of urban life and his Singaporean experience on his writing, the motivation behind founding SEAL, and his observations and expectations for the younger generation of Malaysian Chinese writers. This issue of Monsoon Belt also features two of his works, demonstrating his extensive reading, his keen attention to current affairs, and his diverse range of styles. Ho Kai Chi, another Malaysian Chinese writer of his generation, also wrote a review of Niu You Xiaosheng's previous work, "Twenty-Three Minutes Until get out of class Ends," reflecting a different perspective on Niu You Xiaosheng.
