In early 2016, Huang Jinshu's article "Autumn River Dawn Glints, Cold Isle Night Vast" published in Taiwan's United Daily News sparked a debate over a "discursive gap" in Malaysian Chinese literature. Lin Weidi, a young Malaysian Chinese writer who spearheaded the critique of Huang Jinshu's "discursive gap," decided to break the stalemate of young Malaysian Chinese writers' perceived lack of discursive ability by funding a literary magazine. He stated, "I'll create my own Malaysian Chinese literature," aiming to foster an atmosphere where people can "discuss books together." He also hoped that this would not only foster literary discourse but also protect the publishing and book industries.
