This book primarily compiles Mei Shuzhen's columns, originally published in Sin Chew Daily from 2013 to 2016. Divided into two volumes, "A Journey Through the Garden" and "A Journey Through the Study," both explore casual encounters with art in everyday life. The writing is heartfelt and moving, leaving a lingering aftertaste. From a poem, a song, a performance, an event... these evoke ripples of memories, feelings, and reflections; they explore the once-rich literary scene of Malaysian Chinese literature, and reminisce about past events and past friends.
The footprints left while walking between the study and the garden were recorded by Mei Shuzhen in words.
