Weng Wanjun's first collection of essays includes thirty-four essays, which unfold a twelve-year journey. With straightforward and sincere words, she frankly faces the self hiding on the other side of the moon.
This collection of essays charts a trajectory of growth, using words to explore the inner contexts and consciousness of life. Themes range from exploring family of origin, personal emotions, the body, and death. Whether exploring the migration of families, childhood memories, the whispers of lovers, personal mobility, or the loneliness of living in a foreign land, themes of struggle and growth are all revolving around one. Reading each essay, one senses the writers' genuine desires and aspirations, sometimes lyrical and sometimes self-deprecating.
"The back of the moon" can refer to a kind of meditation and sentiment in writing, and it is also a metaphor.
Recommendation
It is easy to identify a distinct attitude in each article. That straightforward voice of intervention is precisely the authentic shaping of family, literature, love, and marriage, and the embodiment of simple observation and original intention.
──Gao Jiaqian (Associate Professor, Department of Chinese, National Taiwan University)
The many trivial daily lives condense into more private nests, where there are more healing voices and more acceptance of one's own feelings, including moments of vulnerability, moments of dependence, and moments of doubt.
