This issue of Monsoon Belt features a special section on "Translation," divided into three parts. The first section features follow-up contributions to the publication of the selected translations of the Taiwanese-Malaysian novel "Night Walk," including personal reflections from the editor, interviews with the editor and the author, and observations and responses from scholars and readers. The second section features translators' backgrounds and personal reflections on the translation movement in Malaysia, their experiences, and the current state of translation in other literary circles. The third section focuses on translations, featuring Malaysian Chinese writers translating works by renowned overseas authors and Taiwanese editors translating poetry by Malaysian Indian writers.
This issue also includes a special feature, a 3,000-word excerpt from tens of thousands of words of fax correspondence compiled and excerpted by Bei Ling, editor-in-chief of the literary and humanities magazine "Tendency," on Meng Lang. This feature provides readers with a glimpse into "Tendency" and the character of a scholar who upholds freedom of expression and writing. Other content includes novels, essays, poems, prefaces and postscripts, reviews, a special section on emerging talent, and a special edition of entries from the 2018 Second Quarter Yue Chuang Essay (Poetry) Competition.
