Literature as a Method, Returning to Showa Taiwan: The Fictional Project of Taiwan Travelogue

Speaker: Writer Yang Shuangzi 📅 16.08 (Saturday) 7:00PM
📍 eslite Forum, Eslite Malaysia

The Taiwan described by Yang Shuangzi is both real and fictional.

She uses novels as a method to lead readers into Taipei during the Showa era, and through the interweaving of reality and fiction, she reconstructs forgotten historical memories and local culture.

In this lecture, she will share her creative and reading experiences, and how novels can dialogue with history in fiction, allowing us to see how a work, in the name of literature, imagines a Taiwanese time and space that never existed but is extremely real.

This is not just a lecture, but more like a workshop where history and literature intersect. We invite you to travel through time and space to witness how novels communicate with history.
